It’s a brand new year, and with each year, there’s a brand new list of movies to watch. This year is no different with an amazing list of films ranging from superhero action and adventure all the way to classic action films based on past decades of war and pioneering. It’s always a lot of pressure to try to watch all of the best ones, but with my top five you’ll be able to see the right movies the first time around.

1. The Revenant

With a star-studded cast of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, this story blends in gore and realism to tell an edgy account of revenge and survival.  This is a must watch for 2016 and will definitely have you wanting to watch again.

2. Deadpool

Deadpool stars a perfectly casted Ryan Reynolds in the not only hilarious, but gory, action-y, adventure-y and touchingly well told story of one of the most interesting superheroes in the Marvel universe. If you haven’t seen it yet and you’re on the fence about watching it, just look at the reviews and go watch it.

3. Big Momma’s House 2

This is a movie that didn’t come out in 2016 (it came out in 2006), but this is definitely a must watch. Starring Martin Lawrence as a fat old lady who works as a nanny, he has the skills of an FBI agent while also looking very funny as a fat old lady. A must see film for 2016 and all years.

4. Big Momma’s House 2

Listen, I know I told you to watch Big Momma’s House 2 already. Did you watch it? Seriously. Go watch it right now and come back and read the rest of this article. I just really like this movie. Martin Lawrence delivers a raw performance as an FBI agent dressed as a sassy big fat lady who is a nanny. It’s hilarious, it’s funny, it’s sad (I cried), it’s everything you want in a movie.

5. Big Momma’s House 2

Please god tell me that you didn’t just keep reading and stopped to watch Big Momma’s House 2. Please dear lord tell me that you’ve seen the 2006 masterpiece that is Big Momma’s house 2 and that you understand my sheer obsession with this movie. I’ve never loved anything as much as I’ve loved the character Big Momma, and in my opinion, it is the greatest movie to ever be made. It is given a 6% rating on rotten tomatoes and that fills me with the rawest of rage and makes me want to kill every single human being who did not enjoy the movie as much as I did and if you are one of those people I swear to god I will hunt you down and I will force you to love Big Momma and her hilarious one piece swimsuits or so help me god.

Almost on the list:

The Witch

Based off a series of old folk tales this was a pretty scary movie, although it was kind of slow.
